Ox Pasture Hall North Yorkshire

Me and my mum went on a lovely little break away last weekend to the beautiful hotel that is Ox Pasture Hall!

I love a good weekend away, and when a little email came to me to come and stay at the hotel I jumped at the chance! Of course, I asked my mum to come for a little treat.

I had never heard of Ox Pasture Hall, but on googling, it said it was a countryside boutique hotel set on many acres of land, it looked ever so picturesque.

When we arrived, our room wasn't quite ready so we were asked if we wanted a lovely cup of tea or coffee by the fire in the bar area, and of course, we said yes!
As soon as we got there, the staff were so friendly and lovely, you could tell that they loved what they did.
After our little drink by the fire, we were shown to our room by a member of staff, we were in a Twin suite named 'York'. There was a little hiccup at the start with the heating, but again the staff were so nice and gave us a little portable heater, and even offered to move us in to a different room, but the heater was more than enough!

The rooms themselves were HUGE, there was so much space when there was only two of us. Even though they were big, it was really cosy and homely in them, which is something which you would expect from a countryside hotel.
We decided that we would head out and explore for a bit as we had booked dinner for 7:30pm at the hotel.
Scarborough is a local seaside town that is nearby (a few miles) and this is where we headed!

After plenty of exploring and mooching about we headed back to the hotel to chill for a little bit before we were due to dinner.

As you can see we were feeling very social!

I loved the fact there was a lounge area in the suite with a TV, it made it perfect to settle down, I could have stayed there all night!
I couldn't because we had dinner booked, and I can't turn down food. I was excited because I'd read online that the restaurant had won a few awards, and that they pride themselves on their food.

Food began with an amuse bouche, this was made up of goats cheese, onion chutney and orange - it was lovely.

I then had scallops for starter, which is something I've always wanted to try and what a perfect way to do so than in an award winning restaurant. I really loved them.

For main I then had lamb shank which was served with THE creamiest mashed potato I have ever tasted, I mean wow. I could have tucked in to a whole bowl of it.

After the main came a palette cleanser in the form of a mini Pina Colada which was served in a shot glass, I got so excited I forgot to take a photo! And then for desert I got an Assortment of Chocolate, which was a variety of different chocolate deserts. This was beautiful, very rich and filling though!
As you can see, the food was amazing! We had 5 courses, and I was literally full to the brim.

After this we practically waddled back to the room we were so full and climbed in bed and watched Sex and the City on TV, what a perfect end to a lovely night.

We woke up bright and early ready for breakfast, still feeling a little full from the night before! Breakfast was served in the restaurant and there was everything from a Full English Breakfast to croissants and toast.
I have to say that the scrambled eggs were the best that i've ever had.

I wanted to take a wander round the grounds and take some photos of the beautiful surroundings (even though it was freezing).

The hotel grounds were gorgeous in the winter, but I can imagine that they look even better in the summer when it's sunny and the flowers are blooming!
Ox Pasture also host a lot of weddings so the outdoor decor is there to cater to a beautiful picturesque wedding day which I bet would be amazing.

Ox Pasture Hall is a beautiful hotel and we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, the staff were attentive and friendly, everything had a personal touch. The rooms were lovely and homely and the pictures of the grounds and surrounding areas speak for themselves.

If anyone is in passing, I would recommend stopping over here.

*this stay was paid for by the hotel but all opinions are my own

  1. Gorgeous photos! I was tempted by the chocolate dessert but in the end we were mega greedy and went for the dessert sharing platter that was huge!!! Really want to go back in the Summer to sit in the garden with an afternoon tea!
