Bank Holiday Weekend - Bowling/ Rat Race/ Akbars Middlesbrough

I had a jam packed bank holiday weekend which was so much fun.

Last weekend I went and stayed with my good friend Mat for the weekend and we said we would do some fun activities together rather than going for a night out.

We first went bowling on the friday night at Hollywood Bowl at Teeside Park in Stockton, I hadn't bowled in years and I really really enjoyed myself. I wasn't the best but he let me have the barriers up (or it would have been 10 gutterballs). Even though I got a bit competitive and lost all 3 games I still had a really fun time. I had forgotten how much fun bowling could be and we went at 8:30pm so there was mainly adults there and no children running about.

On the Saturday morning, we went and observed the Stockton River Rat race which Mat had tried to convince me to enter, but I said that I wasn't fit enough just yet and vowed to do it next year. This was really enjoyable, I loved watching people and cheering them on because there was people of all ages and fitness levels doing it.
It is a 10km obstacle course which includes jumping off a boat in to the river Tees.

We went to the gym after the rat race, and naughtily on the night went for an Indian at Akbars in Middlesbrough.
I'd never been here before but I had heard people raving about it, It was lovely inside really smart and clean. The staff were really accommodating which was nice, they came over to check on us a good few times.
I ordered Onion Bhaji to start and a Chicken Korma for main (my usual at an indian) and Mat ordered a Balti. We then got rice and a naan to share.
The food was really nice and tasty, there was nothing to complain about, I don't eat indians often at all so my opinion may be invalid to some, but I would say it was a really nice meal and very affordable too. With our 2 starters, 2 mains, rice, naan and 2 beers coming to a reasonable £34.

Overall I had a lovely bank holiday weekend, it was really nice to do something out of the ordinary and different, It felt like a little break away even though it was in the same town.
